We are all  looking for ways to get out of the house in Newington-New Britain-Wethersfield-Berlin this winter! Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids. So we put together a list to help you find fun things to do this winter with your family in Newington-New Britain-Wethersfield-Berlin (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months in Central CT:

1. Hit WinterFest in Hartford, CT

Head to Winterfest Hartford in Bushnell Park and skate for free! Bring your own skates or rent a pair of ours for free.

The rink is open daily, 11 am to 8 pm through January 5, with the following exceptions: 12/24, 11 am - 4 pm; 12/25, closed; 12/31, 11 am - 9 pm; and 1/1, 11 am - 4 pm.

2. Visit the Winter Lantern Festival at Lyman Orchards

We’re excited to announce that the Winter Lantern Festival is at Lyman Orchards this year! This festival, which began in New York in 2018, has brought joy to thousands of visitors. Each festival features a unique set of stunning handmade Chinese lanterns in a gorgeous nightwalk setting. This festive experience is perfect for the whole family! You’ll enjoy a wonderful walkthrough, fantastic photo opportunities, refreshments, and live entertainment. Don’t miss your chance to experience this beautiful culturally rich festival! 

3. Tree Lighting Ceremonies in several towns! 

New Britain: Come on down to the heart of New Britain, for the Annual Tree lighting ceremony and event. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be there riding in style on a firetruck. Pictures with Santa will also be possible on the Patio of The Assembly Room. Local vendors will be on site for an opportunity to shop. Free to Attend. 227 Main St, New Britain CT 06051.

Wethersfield: Join the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce along with the Town of Wethersfield as we present the 14th Annual Holidays on Main on Thursday, December 5 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm along beautiful Main St in Old Wethersfield. Newington: Join us for the most enchanting event of the season: the Newington’s Night of Lights Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 6th! It's a heartwarming community gathering that promises to kickstart your holiday spirit and create cherished memories.Starting at 6pm right on Main Street.
